Doorknob--- main
types of Knobs
1. Entry
---button on interior portion of knob which allows the locking
of the door by pressing or turning . Door may be opened by key
on exterior, turning button or knob on interior.
2.
Classroom---no button on inside of door. Function is controlled
by use of the key. Turn key in one direction it is locked, the
other direction it is open.
3.
Storeroom---no button inside knob ,outside knob always locked.
The key operates the latch only.
Lever--- A turn
device in the general shape of an “L”used on certain locks as an
alternative (because of ease of use) to a knob. Required in
commercial buildings to comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities
Act). Available in same functions as knobs.
Mortise Lock---a
lockset the case of which is designed to fit in a mortise in the
edge of a door or drawer
Mortise
cylinder---a threaded cylinder typically used in mortise locks
Cylindrical
lockset---a bored lockset whose latch or bolt locking mechanism is
contained in the portion installed through the cross-bore
Cam Lock---a complete locking
assembly in the form of a cylinder whose cam is the actual locking
bolt
Rim cylinder---a cylinder typically
used with surface applied locks and attached with a back plate and
machine screws. It has a tailpiece to actuate the lock mechanism
Padlock---a
detachable and portable lock with a shackle that locks into its case
